UPDATE 09/10/21: Corsair Vengence memory LEDs were giving me fits to sync with the rest of the lights. Mostly they would freeze. Just swapped to TEAMGROUP TUF Alliance DDR4-3200 sticks. Something odd freezing lights. Gotta investigate.
UPDATE 08/28/21: Actually catching up on a few upgrades/swaps. I changed out the motherboard from Gigabyte to ASUS, swapped the Thermaltake power supply with an ASUS Thor and I finally got my hands on a RTX3070. Swapped case to Cougar, changed AIO and fans to Arctic. RGB lights are controlled by SignalRGB software based. Amazing!!!!
UPDATE 04/12/21: Disconnected status screen as it was interfering with resolution and size on the big screen. Added a couple of Corsair accessories (headphone stand, iCue Nexus)
UPDATE 01/28/21: Even more tweaks. Swapped monitors, added 7″ status screen running AIDA64, added DAC/AMP and new gaming headset.
UPDATE 10/27/20: A few more tweaks
New Corsair keyboard and mouse and added some color coordinated sleeved cable extensions
UPDATE 4/20/2020: A couple of swaps and upgrades…
I was having random lockups and BSOD’s. Checked the Windows Event Viewer and showed that I was getting kernel low power errors so I swapped the power supply to a Thermaltake 850w. Still got random lockups but no more BSOD so that helped but didn’t fix everything.
Picked up a Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super thinking maybe the lockups were caused by the graphics card but that didn’t fix the problem.
While piddling I pulled a couple of the drives and they were extremely hot to the touch. So I ran SpeedFan and the thermals on my data and media drives were crazy high (Toshiba X300’s) so I pulled the cloned WB Blue drives from the old build and thermals dropped considerably.
Issue now is the UPS is not carrying the computer when we lose power or does a self-test. Tried a new UPS and didn’t fix. Going to swap the power supply with a Corsair unit from an older build to see if that fixes it but that’s a project for the weekend.
UPDATE 2/16/2020: Convert to main gaming rig. Swapped RTX2070 from i7 build and cloned data, media and game drives.
